As the Customs Supervisor, you will facilitate and prepare customs entries, ensuring they are properly documented, classified and compliant with federal regulations. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Prepare customs entries for all import shipments to be submitted to and released from U.S. Customs in a timely manner
- Document the review and assess accuracy by verifying country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure compliance with federal regulation requirements
- With support of compliance team, ensure that all entries are properly classified by using company profiles, Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS), the internet and communicating with the importer of record
- Develop and maintain customer profiles based on the customer's shipment history; coordinate with customers to classify new commodities according to HTS
- Answer any Customs Brokerage-related inquiries both internally and externally
- Assist with compliance matters, including verifying power of attorney, conducting in-depth research and developing classification
- Educate customers on Customs Brokerage operations to help increase sales
What you need to succeed at RXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project), including creating complex formulas in Excel
- Solid knowledge of customs and participating government agency regulations, and the harmonized tariff schedule
- Knowledge of accounting functions and relative information retrieval
It’d be great if you also have:
- Customs Brokerage license
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related work or military experience
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory or specialist role
- Project management experience
- Experience handling customer escalations and root cause analysis
