As the Lead Architect, Enterprise Architecture, you will be responsible for setting the strategy, technical direction and driving adoption of our next-generation data platform. This highly visible position will be left and center as we continuously modernize the data platform and the way we think about and apply data in building solutions across our product landscape. You will be responsible for designing a scalable, extensible, and comprehensive data ecosystem to support the overall RXO data strategy.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead the development of current and target data eco-system architectures covering all aspects of data including ingestion, transformation, management, governance security for data ecosystem including OLTP, OLAP (Data warehouse, Data Lake house) MDM and AI/ML technologies
- Define technical direction and roadmap for data strategy and eco-system and overseeing the implementation and solution
- Translate data needs to data architecture designs with supporting documentation
- Develop architectures for highly scalable and fault tolerant applications leveraging the modern relational, document and data lake house technologies
- Provide thought leadership to engineer teams and provide guidance, review, and approval to support cross-domain initiatives
- Act as a liaison with other solution and domain architects (security, infrastructure, platform etc.,) and with delivery teams working primarily in an Agile manner
- Influence at multiple levels on highly technical issues and challenges and gain buy in from stakeholders
- Collaborate with and influence solution architects, engineering, and delivery teams to adopt enterprise data architecture and specifications in products
- Provide clear and valuable documentation including diagrams, domain models and other type of software artifacts to support the teams and communicates it effectively.
- Evaluates and advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities in moderately complex situations
- Participate in ARB/TRB meetings and brings forward solution recommendations for review and validation
- Leads PoC’s, PoV’s to validate and demonstrate solution options
- Develops and publishes data best practices and design standards
- Define optimal design patterns and lead formulation for high availability and disaster recovery for applications
- Conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems in the context of assigned work effort
- Provide architectural oversight for systems and projects that are required to be reliable, scalable, highly available 99.999% uptime, and maintenance
What you need to succeed at RXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 6 years of experience in Data engineering capabilities involving architecture, modeling (physical and logical), data governance, storage, security, resilience, and replication
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Enterprise data architecture, Data management and Data strategy
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Cloud DB technologies
- Experience in data integration, interoperability, metadata management and data quality solutions
- Experience in designing and building large scale large scale, enterprise systems in a high available, scalable, performant, and distributed environment
- Experience working with cross functional teams migrating data to the cloud and in delivery of new products or services
- Ability to influence with persuasion within the data landscape
- Strong presentation, writing skills and thought leadership
- Solid knowledge in Google cloud data technologies
- Understanding of distributed/microservice-style/event driven based application architectures
- Working in the transportation and freight services business domain would be a plus
- Ability to lead teams by influence
