As a Specialist, Logistics Air Freight at RXO, you will be responsible for managing air freight shipments from initial request to completion.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Operational duties to include coordination with shippers, agents, customers, truckers, airlines and relevant parties for end to end management of shipments
- Effectively execute the coordination of import & export air shipments - including booking, planning, documentation, and tracking
- Maintenance of files; production of internal documentation; updating shipment statuses; assisting and advising customers of shipment status; arranging deliveries; processing and distributing invoices; dealing with e-mail queries from customers; as well as ensuring that excellent standard of data accuracy is maintained in an efficient manner
- Complete process of shipment includes arranging for pick-up or inland transportation, booking, document preparation (bill of lading, invoicing, certificate of origin, export declaration and/or AES, if applicable) follow-up with tracking and tracing and maintain strong data quality requirements
- Customer Service responsibilities include maintaining communication with vendor, shipper, customer, carrier and overseas offices throughout the process and choosing proper routing appropriate to the customer's needs
- Understand and differentiate various air carriers to identify capacity (belly vs freighter), speed, range, pricing, and timing
- Familiarity with airline routes and equipment types in order to determine appropriate options for shipment requests
What you’ll need to excel:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- 1 year of experience in the aviation or transportation industry, with a strong understanding of the aviation industry or equivalent transportation/logistics experience in civilian or military field
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, logistics or equivalent related work experience
- 3 or more years of experience in the aviation or transportation industry, with a strong understanding of the aviation industry or equivalent transportation/logistics experience in civilian or military field
- Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities and airports
- Basic knowledge of U.S. Import & Export controls, U.S. Customs regulations, and other government agency requirements
- Solid verbal and written communication skills with a focus on accuracy and details
- Strong PC skills a must (Microsoft office, outlook, word, excel) including a working knowledge of cargo management software
- Experience with FAA Part 121, 125 and/or 135 (or international) air carrier or Class I-IV airport operations
- IATA Dangerous Goods Certification
- Availability to work a flexible schedule with the ability to adjust based on activity levels
